A full rock basket, not a hot metal box
A 110-132 lb Spirit stone load surrounds the elements. That thermal mass smooths the heat and turns every ladle of water into dense, soft steam instead of a sharp blast.
Harvia · Made in Finland · ETL / CSA listed
Soft, rolling steam from a 110-132 lb stone basket. The wall-mounted rock-basket heater we recommend most for DIY sauna builds.
The Spirit surrounds protected heating elements with a full basket of stones, so the heat lands gentle instead of harsh and the elements avoid direct stone contact. Pair it with the Fenix controller and the temperature sensor reads bench level, where you actually sit.

We throw water on a lot of heaters. The Spirit produces loyly that is gentle, even, and quick to recover between rounds - the authentic Finnish feel most DIY builders are chasing.
Spirit keeps stones off the heating elements, reducing the direct contact stress that can shorten element life on open rock-basket heaters.
The latest Harvia Fenix controller package adds a temperature sensor by the bench, so it controls the conditions where it matters - not just above the heater. Wi-Fi start and scheduling via the MyHarvia app.

Harvia Spirit is a wall-mounted heater from Harvia with 6-9 kW output and 110-132 lbs stone capacity.
The published adjusted room-volume range is 177-494 cu ft. Add glass, tile, stone, brick, concrete, or log exposure before choosing the final kW row.
Plan 2.36"-3.15" side/back clearance, 2.36"-3.15" front clearance, and a 74.8" minimum finished ceiling check before placing benches or glass.
Current controller guidance: Harvia external control package, by SKU. Match the controller, relay or power unit, and voltage to the selected kW row before ordering.
For the heater power feed, the Spirit manual says not to connect through an RCD, the manual term for residual-current/ground-fault protection. In North America, have the electrician verify the selected Spirit/Fenix/Xenio package against NEC and the local AHJ before choosing the final breaker.

240V 1PH package; confirm selected SKU; Harvia external control package, by SKU
Use the selected kW row and SKU when matching breakers, phases, relays, and controller packages.
Use rounded 5-10 cm Spirit stones; use HSP1 embedding flange or HSP3M safety railing only as the selected accessory allows Confirm the selected 8 kW Spirit package manual/SKU before ordering; keep the same Spirit ventilation, sensor, stone, and accessory checks in the documents
6 more notes shown below.
6 ACH; passive default
Natural supply under or next to the heater for Spirit layouts; keep supply airflow from cooling the temperature sensor. SaunaDesignPro passive default uses a high adjustable outlet on the opposite wall/corner; switch to mechanical mode when using a low exhaust.
Round 5-10 cm olivine diabase
Verify the final stone quantity with the selected package: North American Spirit package guidance calls for about 110 lb (50 kg), while HSPE/HSP-MXW rows list 132 lb (60 kg).
HSP1 flange / HSP3M railing
When a railing or flange is used, follow the accessory sheet as well as the heater safety distances.
Manual says not to feed Spirit through an RCD
RCD is the manual term for residual-current/ground-fault protection; have the electrician reconcile this with NEC and local AHJ requirements.
Top safety function on North American packages
Before switching on or restarting a timer, confirm no objects are on top of the heater or inside the safety distance.
