Saunum AIR Black (Closed Basket) sauna heater
The climate-equalizing heater that fixes electric sauna stratification - in the solid Nordic Black body with just 2" side clearances.
Electric saunas run 200F at your head and under 100F at your feet. The Saunum AIR pulls that scorching ceiling air down, blends it with oxygen-rich floor air, and returns soft, even heat - with AirIQ Wi-Fi control, Saunum-paired stones, Himalayan salt spheres, and an external temperature sensor all in the box.

Solves stratification, not just heat
A quiet fan draws the hottest air off the ceiling and mixes it with cooler, oxygen-rich floor air. Saunologia’s long-term reviewer measured his ceiling-to-floor spread drop from over 30C to under 15C - even heat where you actually sit and breathe.
Born from Estonian smoke saunas and TalTech research
Thermal engineer Andrus Vare designed Saunum around the soft, stone-heavy heat of historic Estonian smoke saunas, with stratification research done alongside Tallinn University of Technology. Designed and built in Estonia.
Right-sized for smaller saunas
The AIR series is the Saunum we reach for in smaller rooms, and the solid Nordic Black body needs only 2" to combustibles at the sides with rear-against-wall placement - so it fits compact rooms and barrel saunas the open basket cannot. 110 lb of stone still delivers long, soft steam.
Five saunas in one heater
Classic Nordic, steam-rich, mild relaxing, salt-ion, and aroma sessions - set temperature, fan speed, and intake valve from the included AirIQ Wi-Fi controller or the free Saunum app, with three programmable presets.
Everything in the box
Sauna Marketplace ships every Saunum with paired stones, the AirIQ Wi-Fi controller, Himalayan salt spheres, an external temperature sensor, and the latest prewired power box for a simpler install.
Nobody knows Saunum like the Bens at Sauna Marketplace
The Bens have worked hand-in-hand with the Saunum team since the brand first reached the US, run Saunum heaters in their own saunas, and have been part of Saunum pilot projects, testing, and R&D tuned for the US market. When you have a sizing, install, or steam question, you are talking to the people who helped shape the US lineup.

Critical differences
AirIQ control system required Use Saunum glass/tile/stone/log adjusted-volume rules before sizing
9 more notes shown below.
- AirIQ control system required
- Use Saunum glass/tile/stone/log adjusted-volume rules before sizing
- Only one sauna device may be installed in the sauna room
- Do not connect through a GFCI breaker (Saunum US manuals)
- 240V 1PH, 20.63 A, 30 A breaker, (2) #10 + N + G copper
- 240V 1PH, 28.75 A, 40 A breaker, (2) #8 + N + G copper
- Current public AIR heater manual file. Confirm final packaged attachments before ordering.
- Saunum AIR-family pages require AirIQ control, the Saunum cold-surface adder, and one sauna device per room.
- Saunum US manuals forbid GFCI breakers and require min 90C copper wiring; in-sauna cable below 40 in AFF must be rated 194F (T125-class), above 40 in or in-wall 257F (SSJ-type).
- Saunum discontinued the AIR 10 (non-L). The Dec 2025 AIR manual (V_25_12.1) covers AIR 5 and AIR 7 only - older manuals listing an AIR 10 are out of date. For roughly 10 kW rooms use AIR L 10 or AIR Perfect 10.
- Closed black basket: 2 in side/front safety distance to combustibles; only the rear may touch the wall; max 3.9 in niche depth.
